City Bond Rating

April 8, 2009: Moody's Investors Service Continues to Rate Burlington's Bonds Aa3 | Full Report |

"Moody's Investors Service has assigned a Aa3 rating to the City of Burlington's (VT) $12.7 million Series A (tax exempt) and $8.2 million Series B (taxable) General Obligation Public Improvement Bonds, Series 2009. At this, time Moody's has also affirmed the city's Aa3 rating affecting $44.5 million in outstanding parity general obligation debt. The bonds are secured by the city's general obligation unlimited tax pledge and are being issued to finance capital improvements at the city electric plant. The Aa3 bond rating incorporates the city's strength as the economic center of Vermont, as well as a manageable debt profile and the achievement of previously outlined fiscal goals as demonstrated in the city's improved reserve levels."
