Single Day View Week View Month View Special Meetings of the Board of Health The City Council Charter Change Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding proposed amendments to the Burlington City Charter. Proposed amendments are then subject to public hearings, submitted to the voters for approval, and eventually become effective upon enactment by the Vermont General Assembly. CT - Elections Page Election Date The City Council Institutions and Human Resources Committee is responsibile for a biennial review of the Comprehensive Personnel Policy Manual, the creation of new policies and revision of existing policies, and conducting grievance hearings for employees where no Departmental Commission exists. The City Council License Committee consists of two parts: 1) the Local Control Subcommittee, and 2) the Licensing Committee. The Local Control Subcommittee deals solely with the City's oversight of State liquor laws and regulations. The Licensing Committee handles all licenses or permits established by city ordinance that require City Council approval. Haiti Earthquake Relief - 2010 Burlington Telecom Documents The City Council Ordinance Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding proposed changes to the City Code of Ordinances. Proposed changes come to the Committee upon a referral from the full City Council and can be in the form of new ordinance proposals, proposed amendments to existing ordinances, or proposed repeal of existing ordinances. Upon completing its reviews, the Committee returns its recommendations to the full City Council for their final vote. The City Council Public Safety Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding issues of the health, safety and welfare of City citizens. The Transportation, Energy, and Utilities Committee studies and makes recommendations to the City Council on issues concerning all modes of transportation, and interrelated development issues; energy plans, rates and other issues; and utility matters regarding, but not limited to, water, sewer, and telecommunications.
