Institute for Sustainable Communities - On May 9th, 2006, former Burlington Mayor Peter Clavelle, representing the ISC visited Moss Point to inspire people towards a sustainable rebuilding plan. The ISC has been interested in helping the people of Moss Point since President George Hamilton visited the area with former Mayor Clavelle shortly after the hurricane hit in September. So far, ISC has raised over $55,000 for the Gulf Coast Community Project. Contact Betty Weiss at bweiss@iscvt.org for more information about the program.

Other Partnerships

School Partnerships - Twelve area schools has paired with Moss Point schools in collaboration between the Sister City partnership to provide relief and school materials. These schools include: Allen Brook School in Williston, C.P. Smith Elementary in Burlington, Hinesburg Community School, Edmunds Elementary in Burlington, Union Elementary School in Montpelier, Hiawatha Elementary in Essex Junction, Flynn Elementary in Burlington, St. Albans City School, Burlington H.S., Champlain Valley Union H.S. in Hinesburg, Essex H.S. and Bellows Free Academy in Saint Albans.

Adopt-A-Family - Five families of Moss Point have been "adopted" by Burlington Groups and Families to provide aid and assistance. Getting people in touch with other people is one of the best ways to establish long term connections between the cities.

Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity - As of March 2006, the Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity had raised over $16,000 for home rebuilding. They are waiting on the Moss Point Habitat Board to tell them how this money could best be used to serve the people in Moss Point.
